About IndiGo Birding Nature Tours
Here at IndiGo Birding Nature Tours, we provide a diverse range of bird-centric excursions in south-central Indiana and beyond, including international adventures to Belize and Costa Rica. Established in 2013 by David Rupp, our mission is to provide exceptional experiences through intimate, small-group tours that cater to nature lovers and birdwatchers of all abilities.
Meet David & Beth Rupp
David and Beth Rupp are a husband and wife team. David serves as a birding guide and tour operator while Beth works part-time behind the scenes handling logistics and planning the tours.
Beth and David live in Bloomington, Indiana, a classic university town surrounded by nature in all directions. When not traveling or leading multi-day tours, David offers day trips near home. His favorite local destinations include Goose Pond FWA, Yellowwood State Forest, and Lake Monroe.
David worked as an environmental educator, field biologist, Audubon chapter president, and bird population researcher before starting IndiGo Birding Nature Tours in 2013. His goal is to connect people with nature by sharing the wonder of the world of birds. He strives to meet people wherever they are in their birding journey, providing a memorable experience that both heightens their knowledge and skills and leaves them wanting to come back for more!
Meet Jeremiah Oden
Jeremiah was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and called the Ark-La-Tex area home the majority of his youth. He grew up an avid outdoorsman and also played every sport that was offered. Jeremiah became an accomplished runner through a lot of hard work, which eventually resulted in a sponsorship from a shoe company and set him up for future careers as a firefighter and a survival instructor in the Air Force.
His passion for leading and instructing really took off while taking up to 12 people at a time into the wilderness to teach them how to live off the land.
After moving to Indiana, he stumbled upon an advertisement for Cornell’s Global Big Day. He participated in that spring big day and became obsessed with birding. It didn’t take long for his passion for leading and instructing to pair with his obsession with birds… a natural calling to become a birding guide.
As a Kowa optics brand ambassador, he is also an avid digi-scoper and photographer (follow him on Instagram at the_phone_birder and majestic_birding).
