This tour will be a longer paddle from the Pine Grove boat ramp near the north end of Lake Monroe. We will explore the location where Bald Eagles were reintroduced into Indiana by viewing the hacking tower and a nearby nest in the North Fork Waterfowl Resting Area. We will also look for herons, songbirds (like the Prothonotary Warbler), and possibly even the Roseate Spoonbill that’s been hanging around.
IndiGo Birding provides kayaks, paddles, and life jackets, but you are welcome to bring your own if you would prefer ($15 discount). Some experience is necessary, and some agility is required to get in and out of a kayak and the strength to paddle against possible winds. Transportation is provided from Bloomington for those that need it. In the case of inclement weather, the kayaking tour will be canceled or postponed.
